THE Walt Disney Company (M) Sdn Bhd was the one that made the move to cancel the Lightyear screening in Malaysia, said the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia (LPF).
LPF in a statement today said the animated movie was approved with changes, but the distributor refused to comply with them.
“After watching Lightyear, LPF approved it with certain changes and gave it a PG13 rating.
“LPF ordered scenes and dialogues found to contain LGBT lifestyle elements, which violate the Guidelines on Film Censorship, be cut and muted.”
Aspects such as decency, religion, safety and public order will be taken into consideration when approving movies and publicity materials, based on provisions under the Film Censorship Act 2002 (Act 620) and Guidelines on Film Censorship Home Ministry 2010.
LPF said it is committed to carrying out its responsibility in censoring movies and publicity materials.
LPF said it will not compromise on any content that promotes or attempts to normalise LGBT in line with the national policy of not recognising the lifestyle. – Bernama, June 17, 2022.
